Frequently asked questions.
What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health and wellness, designed to support the healing of the body, mind and spirit. It combines modern science with age old wisdom to treat the whole person and the root cause of the issue, not just the symptoms that develop. Basically put, naturopathy involves herbal medicine, nutritional medicine and lifestyle adjustments.

Should I see a Naturopath?
Are you willing to put in the work to gain optimal health? If so, then yes!
It isn’t always a walk in the park when you embark on your health journey, sometimes you’ve got to take some less-than-delicious liquid herbs, sometimes we’ve got to change up your diet in a big way, and sometimes you’ve got to make some important lifestyle changes.
But if you’re committed to take this on, then so am I! I will be there to support you 100% of the way and when you look back, you will be SO glad you took this step. Click here to see the common conditions we treat.

Emalyse? I've never heard that name before!
Pronounced Emma-Leese. You know, I’m not surprised because my mum and dad actually made it up themselves! My dad loved the name Emma and my mum was taken with the name Alyse, so they smooshed the names together and the rest is history. Who would have thought?!
What happens in a consultation?
Your first appointment will be in a relaxed and welcoming non-judgement zone. It will take approximately 60-75 minutes, and involve an in-depth conversation about your health goals, previous health history, family history, diet and lifestyle.
After the consultation, I will make up your herbal medicines and post them out to you and email you a recap of the health plan which includes diet and lifestyle recommendations. More details can be found here, please do not hesitate to email me if you have any specific questions regarding the consultation process.
When are consultations are available?
Consultations are available Monday through to Saturday, check out the booking page to see available appointments.
Where do consults take place?
All consults are held online through Zoom. So no need to deal with traffic, parking or google maps -you can relax at home and I’ll come to you through the magic of the internet.
How do I book in? And What happens next?
Head to my booking page and find an appointment time that suits you. Payment is made upon booking, so pop in your payment details and you’ll soon receive an email with an initial questionnaire and a Zoom link for the appointment. Fill in your questionnaire at least 48 hours before the appointment and you’re done.
On the day of the appointment, click the Zoom link 5 minutes before the start time to make sure everything is up and running well. And I’ll see you at the start time, I look forward to it!
After seeing me once, you can follow the same process but select a follow-up appointment instead.
*Please note I’m only seeing clients within Australia at this time.
How many consultations will I need to have?
This depends on your presenting health, whether your condition is acute or chronic, and if any secondary health concerns are evident. You should prepare to attend a minimum of 3-4 consultations over a 12 week period. This ensures we develop a consistent treatment strategy for maximum results.
After this period, consultations may take place once or twice every 6-12 weeks, depending on your individual needs.
How do I cancel an appointment?
If you would like to cancel or change an appointment, please email me as soon as possible.
You are able to cancel your appointment without any fees up to 24 hours before your appointment start time. Consultations cancelled within 24 hours of the booking time and missed appointments will incur 50% of the consultation fee.
This policy is in place to ensure consistency in booking processes. I strongly value your time, and I appreciate a mutual value for my time and the time of other clients.
What’s included in the consultation fee?
As you know, the consultation fee includes the private, one on one consultation. In-depth and comprehensive questioning, examinations, and assessment allows me to develop an individualised treatment plan specific to you and your health needs. But the consultation fee also includes time spent outside of the appointment, researching and creating your perfect prescription, making up your herbal potions and lotions and analysing any pathology results.
Are there any additional costs?
Additional costs may include shipping, herbal prescriptions, flower essences, herbal teas, bespoke creams or nutritional supplements as needed.
Treatment plans can be adjusted to suit your budget and needs.
If testing needs to be done, this will be at an additional cost.
Do you bulk bill?
No, we don’t offer bulk billing. Full payment for the consultation is made at time of booking.
Can I claim Private Health Rebates?
Unfortunately not, the Australian Government removed Naturopathic Medicine from the private health rebate scheme on the 1st of April 2019.
